Married No.1

We are back at school in Maryland for a few more months. We had a very nice Christmas in Weatherford, Oklahoma with Tyler's Mom's side of the family. We spent our New Years Eve at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia, unhappily, and New Years Day in Alexandria, Virginia, happily.

Meghan starts "transitions" this semester, and she will begin working with a nurse full time towards the end of her school year. She is currently interested in working in the Pediatric Emergency Department when she graduates. She will return from a road trip to New Orleans next week. She took the trip with two classmates, Christi and Emmy. Meghan will graduate May 27 in Baltimore with a B.S. in Nursing.

Tyler is working on his Senior Essay--a prerequisite to graduate. He is reading Descartes Meditations on First Philosophy and Plato's Theaetetus, and looking for what these authors say about certainty. His essay is due February 6, and all of his classes are canceled for "Writing Period." He has finished all of his applications for graduate study and has applied to University of Notre Dame; Purdue University; Cornell University; Fordham University; Boston College; University of California, Berkeley; University of Chicago; and will perhaps apply to the University of Dallas at the end of this month. He has also applied for a faculty position at Great Hearts Academies, Phoenix, AZ, to teach high school. He graduates May 16 with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.

Please let us know how you are, and enjoy the photos from our wedding and honeymoon.

Nursing is GREAT!!!

Wow, I can't believe that I have already been in school for about a month. Crazy. Things are going really well. Life here in Baltimore is different than any place I have lived before . . . and I have lived in quite a few placed. Its nice to be in a city and learn a new rhythm to life. My apartment is great . . . Erin and Robin are my two roommates and they are both really great people. It is fun getting to know then and getting to go on this nursing journey together. They are also both concerned about international medicine (they were Peace Corps volunteers) so it is great to share a passion in that.

Welcome to Maryland

We're in Maryland.
Our trip started on August sixth and on August seventeenth we were in Maryland. We stopped in Denver, Colorado; Kansas City, Missouri; Cincinnati (Mason), Ohio; and Charlottesville, Virginia before we finally made it to Maryland.
Along the way we saw beautiful sights, such as the sunrise over the Blue Mountains in Oregon, the peaks of the +14,000 foot mountains west of Denver, the prairie land of Wyoming and Kansas, as well as the forested growth of the east, starting from West Virginia and stretching to the easternmost parts of Maryland.
We were able to stay with friends, friends of friends, and some family along the way. This made out trip as enjoyable as it was beautiful. School starts very soon, so we are busy getting ready. Meghan has moved into her apartment with her roommates (Erin and Robin), and Tyler has begun his work as a Resident Assistant on his campus.

Us in Car.

Us in south-eastern Wyoming, where the wind does blow, and snow is said to fall.

Sometimes we would stop in at coffee shops

and read.

We spent a day at the University of Virginia.

And found some friends (Acacia, Laurel, and Chad) who went to

Annapolis with us.

Meghan found her home at Johns Hopkins University,

and now our feet sometimes are lonely, being so far away.

YAH!

Hey Friends,

Today is our last day to pack and fill my little Acura with all the things we have accumulated over our 21 years. We will be that car, you know that car, you see it when your driving somewhere and it is just jam packed with stuff and you wonder to yourself, where they are headed? That will be us . . . headed to Maryland, to learn, and grow, and better know how to be helpful and loving towards those around us. College is just such an excited time for us youngsters. We have to show up early because I am running cross-country. I have been training all summer but am still pretty nervous. We'll see how it goes. I know it will be fun. I just don't know how my little competitive self will take it if I am not very good. Well, off to packing. We love you all and are very thankful for all the ways that you all have loved and supported us. Take care friends and family . . . and know that there is a couple in Maryland that miss you and care for you deeply.

Meghan

New Beginnings

Welcome to our blog!

Meghan and I would like to welcome you to visit us here. Hopefully this will be a place where you can touch bases with us, find out what we are doing, and be encouraged to call or email us. We know that we have a tendency of not staying put very long. Someone mentioned it would be nice to have a blog like this and we agreed.
We hope to keep you up-to-date on our going-on's and our what-not's. For now we are on a road trip across the beautiful United States. This will be the firs time that I (Tyler) have been east of St. Louis. We will be stopping in Littleton Colorado, Kansas City Missouri, Dayton(?) Ohio, and then on to Maryland.
But before all of that--the most exciting news. Meghan and I are engaged! I proposed to Meghan at Fogerty Creek beach, just south of Lincoln City, on August second. We were joined by some friends and family to help us celebrate there. We certainly would like to thank everyone for their love and support throughout our courtship, and we are looking forward to marriage. No date as of yet--we will keep you posted.
For now, this is all. We hope you enjoy our blog, and that your return sometime soon. We'll try to post monthly, and you can bookmark this page or subscribe to our post as you like.

Much love,
Tyler & Meghan
